Service areas across Tunisia

SAFWAT works throughout Tunisia from its base in Ben Arous. Our teams travel to site for study, installation, commissioning and maintenance of water, wastewater and air treatment plant.

Regions covered

The industrial hubs we work in most often, and the processes most in demand there.

  • Greater Tunis and Ben Arous

Our head office is in Ben Arous, next to the industrial zones of Mégrine, Bir El Kassaa and Charguia. This is where our response times are shortest.

Food processing, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, engineering and surface treatment.

  • Sousse and the Sahel

Sidi Abdelhamid, Kalâa Kebira and the textile and automotive zones of the Sahel. Process water treatment, effluent recycling and air filtration for clean rooms.

Textiles, automotive, plastics and food processing.

  • Sfax and the South East

The Poudrière and Thyna zones. Heavily loaded effluent, pre-treatment before discharge and reverse osmosis units for process water.

Food processing, olive oil, chemicals and construction materials.

  • Bizerte and the North

Menzel Bourguiba and the northern industrial hub. Boiler feedwater demineralisation, make-up water treatment and maintenance of existing plant.

Metals, cabling, food processing and energy.

  • Gabès and the South

The southern chemical hub imposes strict discharge limits and corrosion-resistant materials. We size accordingly.

    Chemicals, fertilisers, energy and desalination.

  • Nabeul and Cap Bon

Grombalia, Béni Khiar and the Cap Bon canneries. Food-industry wastewater with a strong seasonal organic load.

Canning, food processing, ceramics and tourism.

Regulatory compliance

Wherever the site is, industrial discharge in Tunisia falls under the same texts. We size plant to meet them and prepare the technical file that supports the permit application.

  • NT 106.002

The Tunisian standard setting limit values for effluent discharged to the water environment. It drives the COD, BOD5, TSS, pH and metals targets the plant has to reach.

  • NT 106.03

The standard covering reuse of treated wastewater for agriculture, where the project aims at recycling rather than discharge.

  • ONAS

Connecting to the public sewer requires a discharge permit from the national sanitation utility, with limits specific to the effluent concerned.

  • ANPE

The national environmental protection agency reviews impact assessments and environmental specifications for industrial projects.
